    Three Kids and a…High Tide

    August 25, 2017 /

This was supposed to start as a cliched story of a fabulous vacation photo with two of my little people. In fact I had spent countless hours in the shower working out the story in my head (or minutes really, just minutes, because I'm a mom and they're always lurking, even when I'm in the shower while on vacation). Three Kids and a…Mother’s Day Hike: an Ode to My Father

    May 24, 2017 /

There is no reason a grown man should wake up at 2 am infectiously giddy. He has no right to be singing about going to “Wally World” and moving swiftly, floating even, turning on lights, rousing children. He shouldn’t have the ability to make a house pulse with life when just a week earlier it had been flatlining with the comings and goings of the everyday. And when that man then has to take his once sleep-weary children, put them in the car, and proceed to drive 1500 miles, there are even fewer reasons said man should be anything less than entirely spent and growling. He should have every right to…

In the past few years we've started to book part o In the past few years we've started to book part of our travels with travel groups, particularly @adventuresbydisney. One of the best parts about this, and why we will continue to do it, is because with each trip our kids walk away with new friends. Bonds form quickly when you've got to deal with touring boring historic sites in the blistering heat and long bus rides on windy roads together. Now they have friends spread throughout the world that they'd have never had the privilege of knowing before. And that is something special too.

To avoid the heat, most of our Galapagos hikes wer To avoid the heat, most of our Galapagos hikes were pre-breakfast. Bartolome started with an early morning hike giving us views in every direction from the top of a volcanic island with tiny lava lizards living their best lives. It was an easy walk up 350+ steps with platforms along the way to take a break from the uphill climb to soak it all in.
