Who am I? (Impending existential crisis.) Suddenly Who am I? (Impending existential crisis.) Suddenly, picking through crowds on a sweltering day isn't so magical (for me). Now that the littles are growing up, there's more need to get on rides and DO things rather than meander and chat while characters and bright shiny things keep them entertained. We're completely scheduled all day. And that's not my thing. Fortunately the Tiny One agrees. So we split up. The Tiny One and I headed back to the pool and the Big and Middle toughed it out. While I didn't love our time in Alaska like I'd ho While I didn't love our time in Alaska like I'd hoped I would (more on that later), I did really love those moments we got to wander around in nature and see the glaciers. I don't think a picture will ever do it justice in terms of sheer size. And these guys got the extra joy of sticking their fingers in the glacial lake. It wasn't warm. The trouble twins don't recommend swimming here. (You can catch a glimpse of Juneau's Mendenhall Glacier in the distance.)
Glacial ice really is that blue. It's incredibly d Glacial ice really is that blue. It's incredibly dense due to the weight and years, which means there's little air in glacial ice, making it that blue color. 3kids can confirm that density as we all ate a little bit of the glacial ice and it was super hard to crunch (and made for the most perfect glacierita). And delicious. And crystal clear (it doesn't turn white or colored until exposed to the air). New love of glaciers unlocked. (Check stories or highlights for more glacier stuff.)
